Gameplan for game 2

Game 2:
My Opponent: Fire Flip

PG- Oscar Robertson
SG- Dwyane Wade
SF- Rick Barry
PF- Rasheed Wallace
C- George Mikan

BE- Deron Williams
BE- Carlos Boozer
BE- Allan Houston
BE- Jack Sikma
BE- Tayshaun Prince

Offense: As Dominique will once again be facing a lesser defender, I will begin by attacking Barry right away. In this game as a whole, I will attempt to run more than I did last game, as many of his players are more suited to a halfcourt game. With the strong rebounders and shot blockers I have in my frontcourt, that should be successful. Haywood will get more touches down low on offense in this game as I believe his physical style of play will allow him to match Rasheed's output, and get into his head. Once again in the half court set I will run P&R with Duncan/Nance and whoever my PG/SG is (Johnson/Nash/Jones/Ellis/Davis) to death.

Once again I will use more of Duncan's outside game, to draw whoever is guarding him (Mikan/Wallace/Boozer/Sikma) out of the paint to allow my players easier penetration. If that doesn't work I will move him back into the paint and allow him to go to work against Mikan. Sam Jones will be left open several times throughout this game due to the gambling nature of Wade's defense, allowing him several open shot opportunities. When Nash is in the game, especially when he is on the floor with Dale Ellis, I will look to shoot more threes. I believe this should work with Duncan and Haywood operating in the paint, I believe they will demand at least a temporary double, giving me a chance at a wide open shot.

When Houston is in, whoever he is guarding will be given the green light to attack him. I will run DWill off of screen after screen and use the outside game of my PG's to negate his strength advantage over them. I do not think that Boozer or Sikma can handle Duncan, so if he is guarded by either of them, he will either create his own shot, or if the double comes kick it out for an open shot. Once again I will run few plays for Buck Williams on the offensive end, his points will mainly come off of his amazing rebounding.

Defense: Duncan will initially start on Mikan, and while I do not believe he can shut him down, especially not the hook shot, he can slow him down and limit him in this game. I think that Haywood's physical style of play will frustrate Rasheed, and force him into jacking up unnecessary threes, as we have seen him do throughout his career. Just as Dominique holds the advantage over Barry's defense, so does Barry's offense have the advantage over his defense. Dominique will play in your face defense against Barry, I want to limit his jump shooting and force him to drive into the paint where I have a multitude of great shot blockers to change his shot. I will allow Sam Jones to sag of off Wade, who has yet to develop a consistent jumper in this league, and double down low if necessary. On the Big O, I am going to invite him to shoot instead of pass. While I will not intentionally leave him wide open, I will allow Keving Johnson to gamble more in this game than last, and while he should be successful occasionally (he is one of the best ball stealers during his time) it will leave the Big O open, however if he is shooting himself he is not passing the ball around, and I can live with that. I do not believe that the Big O's jumper can carry his team for an entire game, and again with my shot blockers inside if he drives he will find his shots much more difficult.

When Nash is in I will not automatically switch to a zone this time, only if he is guarding DWill, for remember I want the Big O to shoot not pass. However when he is guarding DWill or Houston we will switch to a zone, a 2-3 or 302 depending on the quality of the outside shooting. Dale Ellis and Walter Davis will both play physical up close defense to limit the jump shooting of their man. When Bppzer and DWill are on the floor together, I know P&R will be run over and over again, so Nance will be on Boozer in those times, as he is athletic enough to stay with DWill's drive to the basket should a switch be necessary. Buck Williams is one of the better rebounders and defenders of his time, so I will stick him on whoever the other big man isn't guarding, and be satisfied. A little k
